There is little doubt that the single most important obstacle to development in Hemlock Valley has been the dirt road. BUT NOT FOR LONG! The government has announced that Hemlock Valley Road will be paved next year. (The summer of 2009.) It was further announced that there will be upgrades carried out to the road during the summer of 2008 in preparation for paving. A cost sharing formula was worked out that will see the resort owner paying a full 50% of the cost.

The village has mobilized and many of the owners are looking at paving the residential streets, while the main road is being paved. Aside from the obvious positive impact on property values, to many this represents a village upgrade that has been far too long in coming.

More and more investors are looking very seriously at Hemlock these days. When comparing to the other resorts with a village, even if Hemlock’s far superior location with respect to the Okanagan Mountains is ignored, property values here are still lagging far behind.
